Detective Division

The Dobbs Ferry Detective Division is responsible for investigating all crimes occurring within the Village. The Detective Division is staffed by one Lieutenant and three Detectives. The Lieutenant is assigned to a steady day shift while two Detectives work a rotating day and evening shift. The third Detective is assigned on a permanent basis to the Greenburgh Narcotics and Alcohol Task Force.

The Dobbs Ferry Detective Division has access to some of the best investigative equipment available. In 2009, the Division has acquired a Forensic Crime Scope which will enhance the Detectives abilities to identify and collect evidence. The Crime Scope has the ability to locate blood, hair, fibers, bone and other sources of DNA. This device utilizes an alternate light source which causes certain substances to fluoresce, revolutionizing the manner in which physical evidence is identified and collected at crime scenes. This agency also is equipped with a Live Scan fingerprinting computer, connected directly to State and Federal fingerprint databases. This system provides two-way communication with these databases hastening the process of suspect and defendant identification. These two additions are small examples of how the Dobbs Ferry Police Department continues to move forward and provide an improved service to our community.
