Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Division

D.A.R.E Division

The Dobbs Ferry Police Department is proud to sponsor the D.A.R.E. program to the youths of the community. Sergeant Marty Coster and Officer Justin Kamke are State certified and specially trained to provide this essential curriculum to youths in our community. Working in conjunction with the students and staff, the Dobbs Ferry Police D.A.R.E. program has been established in the Dobbs Ferry Middle and High Schools, Springhurst Elementary School and The Master’s School

Key Programs

D.A.R.E. is a cooperative effort by the Police Department, the Dobbs Ferry School District, parents and the community. All four work together to help our children make the right choices.

One of the unique features of D.A.R.E. is the use of uniformed Police Officers as instructors. D.A.R.E. Officers are assigned to a real classroom. The Officers are specifically trained to present a 10-lesson instruction unit, which culminates in a special D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony.

D.A.R.E. Lesson Plans

D.A.R.E. Officers work with children to raise their self-esteem, teach them how to make decisions on their own and help them identify positive alternatives to drugs. Through role-playing, the D.A.R.E. curriculum emphasizes the negative consequences of drug and alcohol use and reinforces the skills to resist peer pressure and intimidation.
