About Dobbs Ferry
The mission of the Dobbs Ferry Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our Village by working in partnership with the community and in accordance with constitutional rights to enforce laws, preserve the peace, reduce fear, and provide a safe environment. About Dobbs FerryDobbs Ferry is a quaint historic village situated on the east bank of the Hudson River in Westchester County. It is located approximately 20 miles north of New York City and is home to about 10,600 people. The village derives its name from Jeremiah Dobbs, a fisherman, who in 1698 hollowed out a log and started the first river ferry that traversed the Hudson River at this location. Originally incorporated in 1873 as Greenburgh, the village changed its name to Dobbs Ferry in 1882. Its sloping geography and beautiful waterfront provides dramatic views of the Hudson River and the Palisades from many locations. The character of the village is friendly and diverse, which reflects the many waves of immigrants who have passed through and made this village home. Metro North rail connections and its proximity to New York City make Dobbs Ferry a convenient location in which to live and work. Frequently Requested Forms
